Hello rebels, welcome back to the HIREX:Chronicles universe. Today we would like to focus on the second playable race available at game launch, the Siriax.

Between myth and reality

The origin of this species is tied with myth, legends spoken of from time immemorial in any corner of their planet. These aliens always called themselves “Siriax”, in their language: descendants of the Sirius star. Their home planet though is called Alhabor, which rotates near the red dwarf Proxima Virginis. Legends tell that the Siriax are descendants of a very advanced species from the Sirius solar system that had to escape a huge catastrophe, finding a home in Alhabor.

All the Siriax species knows and tells about this story, more to prove this theory are important discoveries made in the last 200 years.Siriaxians scientists have found a chemical print in the layers of rocks that dates back just a few millions years ago and several fossils of a species, probably Siriax ancestors, dates back to the same age. In light of another event, recently confirmed by astronomers of Sirius B turning into a red giant and inevitably destroying everything around it, makes the theory of a very advanced technology leaving the solar system Sirius B to find a home in Proxima Virginis possible. The chemical trace found in rocks hints of a colonization from a strongly industrialized species that for some reason found its end centuries ago. Main theories suggest either a colossal war or a geological catastrophe, archeologists are not sure, what’s sure is that Siriax ancestors found a dramatic end in Alhabor.

The few survivors found themselves reverted to a semi-tribal state and society, then slowly evolved in the last millions years in the actual Siriax race.

Millenniums of obscurantism

Siriax civilization dates back to ancient times, eons on planet Alhabor though their technological development was very slow compared to other intelligent species in the galaxy. Siriax society was in fact very religious and conservative, emphatically tied to the planet and its nature, they almost despised the idea of using Alhabor’s resources to develop technologies for themselves other than what was necessary for their survival. For eons, tribe patriarchs forbade every attempt of technological and social advancement. Siriax too eventually developed, but at a very slow rate and with decades and decades spent discussing and accepting innovations.

Could this reluctance to evolution be a legacy left to the few survivors of the past catastrophe?

Great genetic empathy

Siriax are very empathetic, loyal allies of nature, and extremely generous towards any living being. It’s said this strong empathy comes from interspecies love. Siriax genetic code shows in fact a few traits distinct from others, just like a hybrid. Scientists are still far from proving that Siriax are hybrids, but strongly push towards the idea of Siriux descendants mating with a pre sentient indigenous species. Some of these attempts might have given birth to a hybrid whose genetic advantage indiscussibly made it the alpha species in Alhabor.

Psionic abilities

Some Siriaxians are born with higher empathetic dispositions, feeling one with the world around them. This predisposition can be cultivated in order to develop psionic abilities in many Siriaxians. For millennials these individuals have led society as elitarians. Children with this trait were taken from their families and brought under the wing of the tribes èlite to be trained to develop at best their psionic abilities.

But these abilities have also been used to fight and hurt living beings. Siriax although very empathetic still developed an idea of using strength to prove who’s best and slowly accepted the idea of necessary fights and wars, even if often were targeted actions rather than big pitched battles.

The highest form of military assets were the NIGHTWALKER, special units gifted with major psionic powers, capable of manipulating minds and easily sneaking in enemy’s ranks to reach their objective, as that could’ve been stealing information, sabotage or assassination. Furthermore, mind control on victims allowed them to kill their victims unconsciously and painlessly, still showing some kind of empathetic mercy.

The big upheaval of first contact

The first contact with the intergalactic federation was a mix of feelings and political positions, on one side there was the joy of getting in touch with many new species that brought cooperation and prosperity, on the other side the fear of losing their roots with endless innovations and development.

Some members of the elite instead found innovation and technological advancement very appealing and started tapping into the planet’s resources to reproduce alien technology and lifestyle, creating two opposed factions. With time more and more people betrayed the Siriax traditions for money, power and fame, using the huge resources that could be found in Alhabor in exchange of alien technologies including the SYNCHALL.

In a few decades the two opposed factions, Teyans and Zallinians started a civil war. Teyans tried in any way to preserve traditions and customs, but most of all the environment and planet they were so fond of, Zallinians instead wanted to fully embrace aliens’ lifestyle, draining the planet of all its resources in order to reach their goal.

Alhabor, once a real Eden, a paradise prosperous of fauna and flora, had witnessed pollution and exploitation that quickly enough brought extinction to many of the weaker species.

HIREX

When the Hivemind started absorbing the Siriax species, they didn’t take into account those who were gifted with psionic abilities, that found themselves immune from the SYNCHALL mind control. Even in light of the Hivemind true agenda, Zallinians completely gave up morals and ethics, allying with the invasors in order to elevate themselves above everyone else, becoming independent Hivemind allies. At the same time Teyans saw their species, history, environment and planet shattering in front of their very eyes, so they gave birth of a united resistance to conquer back and free their loved homeplanet, before it was too late…

The Siriaxians, thanks to their slender constitution, their great longevity, intelligence, empathy and especially thanks to their psionic abilities are going to be great members of the HIREX resistance, soon in fact they will find out that they’re not the only species that took up arms against the Hivemind. The discovery of humanity and planet Earth will in fact give birth to a powerful alliance that’s going to undermine the invasors dominion of the whole galaxy.
