Hello rebels, Welcome back to our newest HIREX: Chronicles post!

The last post was about our RPG game mechanics, today we’re going to talk about weapons that will be available on launch and focus on the weapon’s special traits and effects.

WEAPON TYPES

In HIREX: Chronicles there are two main groups of weapons, melee and ranged. Each group will require different stats to be equipped, melee weapons will require Strength points, ranged weapons will require Ability points instead.

In the melee weapons group you will find:

  • Swords
  • Axes
  • Daggers
  • Spears
  • Hammers
  • Katanas
  • Maces

The ranged weapons group will offer instead:

  • Guns
  • Rifles
  • Snipers
  • Bazookas
  • Crossbows

TRAITS AND EFFECTS

All these weapons can be either found in their standard form, “traitless”, or with distinct traits that will create a variant of that same item. Weapons with embedded traits will obviously be more valuable and each trait is going to be more efficient depending on the enemy you will be facing, so choosing a specific trait over another will also affect your battle strategy.

Traits have a graphic effect that will change your weapon’s look and each trait will have a particular in-battle effect, let’s go through all that will be available on the release:

RUSTY
The rusty trait is peculiar of ancient or very worn out objects, it can often be found in ruins and dungeons. It causes a debuff to all item’s stats but can be removed. This trait however triggers a passive effect:

  • TETANUS: Causes a slight but inexorable loss of life points. Tetanus can be cured with antidotes
Rusty Bazooka

RADIOACTIVE
The radioactive trait activates a poisoning effect.
Most radioactive weapons are in the ranged group, so the radioactive component is only inside the projectile, this way that it doesn’t affect the wielder. There are, however, rumors in the galaxy of alien species with high resistance to radiation that can also wield bladed weapons.

Radioactive Axe

INFECTED
These weapons (or their projectiles) are embedded with a mix of poisons, inflicting double damage to the enemy and continuous damage caused by poisoning.

  • POISON: slows the enemy and applies damage each turn, if the poisoning is very severe (from very powerful radioactive or infected weapons) it can lead to death in a few turns.

Poisoning from radioactive weapons is usually more severe than the infected trait.

Infected Katana

NANO-VAMPIRIC
These weapons are infested with nanorobots that feed off the enemy’s flesh, rewarding the wielder with part of the life points the weapon has dealt. Nano-Vampiric trait applies the effect:

  • LIFE-STEAL: Each shot steals a % of life from the enemy (the percentage depends on the rarity of the weapon).
Nano-vampiric Dagger

SHARPENED
These weapons are usually masterpieces, sharp swords or particularly accurate and effective rifles that inflict extra damage. Sharpened trait applies the effect:

  • CRITICAL: Weapons with this effect can do critical damage. Chances to trigger a critical hit and bonus damage percentage depend on the level of this effect.
Sharpened Rifle

ABSOLUTE ZERO
These weapons are made with a special temperature repellent material, reaching the same temperature of the cosmic void, it applies the effect:

  • FROSTING: The enemy suffers a slowdown and becomes more susceptible to impact damage. Weapons of this kind also deal ice type damage
Absolute zero Rifle

MELTING POINT
Melting point weapons have a nucleus made of pure energy, used to heat up metals to the highest temperatures, everything touched by these weapons or projectiles burns up. This trait applies the effect:

  • BURNING: slows the enemy down and makes it more sensitive to damage inflicted by energy weapons or other fire effects. Weapons of this kind also deal fire-type damage.
Melting point Gun

ACID
Weapons with this trait are enhanced with a highly corrosive acid, causing armors to easily dissolve. This trait applies the effect:

  • CORROSION: The corrosion effect causes the enemy to lose defense points acquired by the armor.
Acid Crossbows

HIGH-TECH
This trait doesn’t give any active effect, instead it will make the weapon more susceptible to electric type effects.

Weapons could also apply other effects, unrelated to the above traits, such as:

  • STUN: Stops the character from acting in its turn(or turns)
  • ELECTRIC: A state of overload shock, which disables susceptible electronic equipment for a variable amount of turns
  • BARRIER: Creates a barrier that nullifies some damage
  • ACCELERATION: Hastes the character
  • SLOWDOWN: Decreases the character speed

Lastly, we would like to mention the “GENESIS” effect. This effect will not be held by any trait or weapons found in game, it can only be found in items obtained in the presale campaign. This effect will grant bonus stats to the item, depending on rarity. Genesis items will also grant the player boosted rewards and benefits in HIREX: Chronicles ecosystem.
